Design: Carved from a single block of aluminum the Apple MacBook MB466LL/A laptop’s new aluminum uni-body encases an LED back-lit 13.3 inch display. Covered from edge-to-edge with glass the screen is decidedly glossy but it also means that it is also stronger and has less flex in comparison to its predecessors. The keyboard is still very comfortable to use while the mouse buttons have been replaced by a single over-sized track pad featuring multi-touch gesture support. At 4.4lbs it is still very thin and lightweight.

Specifications: Moving up from an 800MHz FSB to a 1066MHz FSB the Apple MacBook MB466LL/A runs on a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. In terms of memory it uses 2GB worth of 1066MHz DDR3 memory and a 160GB 5400RPM hard disk drive. Users can add on memory up to 4GB or change the hard disk drive to an SSD but have to shell out a little extra for either of them. The laptop is equipped with a Super Multi DVD optical drive. Throwing out the old Intel chipset and its rather crappy integrated Intel graphics the new laptop now uses an NVIDIA based chipset with an integrated Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphic card. Connection-wise, the laptop offers a mini-DisplayPort, two USB2.0 ports, a mini-DVI port, an SPDIF input, stereo speakers and headphone/microphone jacks. The laptop connects via an RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet LAN port and 802.11 b/g/n wi-fi with Bluetooth support.

Features & Performance: While seemingly underpowered in terms of lower processor speed compared to its predecessor, the Apple MacBook MB466LL/A offers better performance for games and apps. Thanks to the integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M GPU the laptop can now handle most games and even some 3D first-person shooters as well as some 3D apps. The processor is powerful enough to handle web surfing, office applications and multimedia playback for great HD video. Battery life was also good, lasting more than 5 hours on a single charge. Overall, the Apple MacBook MB466LL/A should be perfect for the student or designer on the go and who need to work on a budget.
