a few weeks ago I dropped my mac laptop and now it won’t let me log on and use it. ?
it turns on to a gray screen with the apple logo and with a spinning wheel and that it. I’ll leave it on for a while to see if it goes to the log on screen but it doesn’t.
so does this mean that my laptop is broken/dead?
and is there a way to fix it and at least get my files from it?
Just danced that dance. This is what I did:
Get your OSX CD that came with it, you’ll need to start up on it.
Boot your computer….hold down the mouse and it will eject the DVD tray.
Put in your OSX DVD. Hold down the C key (to tell it to boot from CD.) If it doesn’t respond, restart and hold down the C key.
When you get the OSX installer, do a Archive & Install (which will keep your settings, but install an new copy of OSX.)
If you can’t boot from the DVD (and get the same screen) there’s something wrong with your hardware.
